New champions crowned at The Rush for Gold!

jfThe standing room only crowd this past Saturday night at The Rush for Gold witnessed perennial underdog James Shaw claim the New Zealand Heavyweight Championship for the very first time!

James Shaw overcame both Fury & Cross in a punishing triple threat match to achieve his ultimate goal, and in the process has forced The Investment to disband thanks to a stipulation made earlier in the night. It was a match that saw the Origin get the final say over The Investment, and a match that saw every person in attendance get lost in a celebration that will live on in Impact Pro Wrestling history.

Also at The Rush for Gold, the New Zealand Heavyweight Championship wasn’t the only title to change hands as The Pride put an end to the impressive run of TnT at the top of the tag team ladder in IPW, and left Mt Albert with the New Zealand Tag Team Championship. As for the New Zealand Women’s Championship, that match was brought to an impact-full halt as Ligress made it clear she was not done with Britenay, and the hunger for the gold led both women to agree to a massive Mask vs. Title match at Genesis on May 23! Steve Rickard passes away

Impact Pro Wrestling is saddened to hear of the passing of Steve Rickard.

A true New Zealand Professional Wrestling Legend, Steve paved the way for us to do what we do in this country and we will be forever grateful for that.

The Pride’s physical dominance over their opponents has been clear to see over recent months, but TnT have managed to stand their ground and never give an inch to the masters of the Dawn Raid. However, with having to score two falls over The Pride to leave victorious, TnT’s incredible reign as New Zealand Tag Team Champions could come to a violent end at The Rush for Gold in Mt Albert.

Triple Threat to headline The Rush for Gold!

jjfA combustible triple threat for the New Zealand Heavyweight Championship will headline The Rush for Gold on April 18!

After their contest ended in a no result back at Year of Conflict, Shaw and Fury will once again collide with the gold on the line, but now must contend with the explosive Jakob Cross. Cross was a major factor in the Year of Conflict contest, imposing his physicality late in the match which created a chaotic chain of events that led to the match being thrown out by the official.

Fury will know now that with Cross officially in the match, his New Zealand Heavyweight Championship is under threat not only by a man driven by heart and desire, but a merciless monster driven by violence. Continue Reading
